Trite observations from Your Lady of the Nervous Energy:
- First: I loved, loved Tim Russert. I do not, however, need to see one second more of useless ”youth perspective” commentary from Luke Russert on MSNBC. I’m sure he’s a lovely kid, but come on. Try Luke again in five years, after he’s ripened a bit. Tonight, we miss Tim.
- Second: I know the ladies who love the ladies love them some Rachel Maddow, so please understand that I say this with great affection. Can someone please tell her to put a damn collared shirt on under her suit? It really would be so much hotter. Below is an older press photo where she did it right. We need more of that — minus the buttons, of course. Heck, if she wanted to keep the tie . . . .

- Third: I have a profound love for historic hotels. The classics. They are the splendid intersection of one thing I love — old stuff, and one thing I do a lot of for work — travel. One of my particular favorites is that grandest of dames, the Arizona Biltmore. It’s the only hotel in the world that can claim Frank Lloyd as its consulting architect, and is loaded with delicious golden age glamour – Irving Berlin wrote White Christmas sitting poolside there, for goodness sake! So, you can imagine my dismay that tonight, on this most historic night, the Biltmore will be the capitol of McCain Country. Bleck. Is nothing sacred?

She should DEFINITELY keep the tie. I’m just sayin’
Oh my dear sweet lord – if she would wear a shirt and tie on her show…. Maybe it’s a good thing she doesn’t – I don’t think my wife could handle my crush getting any bigger ;-)
Out and about in real life, Rachel dresses much differently (did you catch her on Leno? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7p_s53zkDI ). She describes her on-air look as (and I paraphrase) “the basic minnimum that one must do to be on television.”
Also – I am with you on Luke.
The McCains actually got married at the Arizona Biltmore 1980 – so they also “christened” the honeymoon suite as well. Can you picture that? Ick.
[AH! AH!]
As if I needed further proof that we were kindred spirits… I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Biltmore. My favorite hotel in the WORLD. When I worked in the energy biz (back in the Enron Days) I did an annual event there (for 9 years!) where we spent a lot of money (not AIG-a-lot, but a lot) on our best customers and it was always the most fabulous event. It didn’t hurt that it was timed around my birthday and so I would always arrive a few days early and stay a few days late and make it into a mini-vacation. Gorgeous grounds, the best service, fantastic lobby and lobby bar, heavenly spa. I still have spa products I hoarded and my bathrobe is from there. Sigh…. those were the days.
They’ll probably spray after McCain leaves tonight.
Then it will be de-cootie-fied for you & Mo to go there on your honeymoon!
[Of course you love the Biltmore!]
I ever mention how much I hate that picture of Rachel? LOL
Oh my god, we say that every night. I hate that blue shell thing she always wears.
[Ugh, I know. Sometimes it's red. I can't really figure out what it is, either. I mean, does she have some sort of tube top on under there?]
